BioMed resins are medical grade materials designed for use in a wide variety of medical applications. Surgical guide resin and LT Clear dental resin are registered materials specifically indicated for dental applications.

Formlabs’ BioMed Resins were developed for customers seeking biocompatible medical grade materials for a wide range of applications, from prototypes to end-use devices. Customers can use these materials with confidence for applications that require contact of the patient’s skin and mucous membrane. In addition to meeting the requirements of the ISO standard for biocompatibility, BioMed resins also comply with ISO 13485.

Both BioMed Clear Resin and BioMed Amber Resin produce strong, functional parts that are biocompatible and compatible with most common sterilization techniques. BioMed Clear Resin is USP Class VI certified and is suitable for the manufacture of durable parts and parts requiring low water absorption. BioMed Amber Resin is suitable for the manufacture of rigid parts that may require higher definition.

BioMed Amber Resin is a rigid, biocompatible material for applications that require a short duration of contact with the patient’s skin or mucous membrane. This resin supports print resolutions of 50 and 100 microns.

Parts printed with BioMed Amber Resin are compatible with common solvents for disinfection and sterilization methods. BioMed Amber Resin is ISO 13485 certified.

BioMed Amber has the same composition as Surgical Guide resin; however, in dental applications it is recommended to use the latter, as it is CE certified specifically for dental use.
